The Day has arrived and our new album 'SOLE MATES' is now available to buy from tonnes of outlets around the UK and beyond.

We're really pleased with the results of our recording, with a return in some sense to our roots.  We'd love to hear what you think of the album so please drop us a line on our Social Media pages.

More Activity Than You Could Shake a Hake At!

So my shanty lubbers!  We've been busy fishies this April.

FF at Radio 2

Not only have we been recording music for a secret project that we be revealed in its entirety soon, but we've also been up to London Town to see the superbly lovely, talented and super-friendly Jo Whiley (hope you're reading this Jo) and sing a few songs for her on her Radio 2 weekday show.

It was fantastic to all head up en masse to the Capital (of England of course, not the world.... everyone knows that that honour goes jointly to Port Isaac and Padstow!) all sat on the train together.  Unlike the heady, early days after signing with a record company, we found ourselves sipping tea in freight class instead of boozing it up in first class! How the times have changed.

We were up there to promote the new album which will be launched on April 20th and it's an album that we are all really proud of.  It's a return to our roots in some respects, so it was great to perform two of the songs from the album ('The Bonny Ship the Diamond' & 'Oh You New York Girls') for Jo and her audience listening at home, at work and in their cars.

We had a fantastic response from listeners, Jo and her fantastic team made us feel at home and, had we not been intent on finding a 'late night library' to wind down in afterwards, we would have happily stayed there all night singing and chatting (although we think our manager was happy that we didn't say too much about our exciting new project).

Radio Appearances & a Summer Sell-Out

Hello lovely FF Fans,

We'll start this little news feed with some info on a few of our radio appearances that have been lined up recently.

On St Piran's Day this year we hosted BBC Radio Cornwall in our local pub, The Golden Lion, where we took part in the Trelawny Shout.  It was a fun evening of spontaneous song and a fair few laughs as well.  Hopefully the atmosphere came across during the broadcast, although we have learnt that a pub full of beer and lots of people joining in meant that there were a few more bum notes than usually floating about.  You can listen again at:

On March 14th, just before we finished our Winter Tour, we headed up to Radio 2 in Salford to perform live on the Radio 2 Folk Show.  As always it was lovely to catch up with the ever delightful Mark Radcliffe and also bang out versions of Bonny Ship the Diamond & Strike the Bell (from our upcoming album) as well as Silver Darlin's (from our Proper Job album).  You can listen again at:

We were also asked to help compile the Radio 2 Folk Playlist for that week which can be heard at:

We're excited to be able to announce as well that we'll be appearing on Jo Whiley's Show on Radio 2 on April 12th and we're also lining up another lovely radio project as well which we'll let you know about in due course.

We've also just heard today that our May 14th show at the Minack Theatre has SOLD OUT.  It's always a fantastic venue to sing at, with beautiful scenery as far as the eye can see.  It's no surprise that it sold out so quickly.

We'd best get back to training the dolphins for that concert so that their choreography is spot on for the evening.

Until next time lovelies!!

The FF Boys

Many of our followers will have noticed in the last few performances that we've not been joined by our MC and Moustache Ambassador Jon Cleave.  He has been advised to take some time out from singing.  As a result he thought it best to send all of our Fishy Friends a quick note, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Regretfully I've been advised to temporarily hang up the ole moustache and step back from performances for the next few months (advised by a Doctor not a music lover, in case anyone was wondering!).  I've suffered from intermittent faints for the last 4 years and need to get it all sorted out.
I'll miss giving you all a 'Jolly Rogering' and a 'Good Hard Shantying' very much, but hopefully will get a speedy diagnosis for whatever it is. I know you'll all enjoy our performances in Port Isaac and elsewhere this summer as much as ever, and I hope to return to the fray with the buoys sooner rather than later.
Must go now, I can feel another bout of the vapours coming on....
My kindest Regards to you all,
Your Fisherman's Friend Jon C xx

Preparing For Two Nights at Carnglaze Caverns

This year has seen the boys celebrate their Silver, 25 year (although it's technically 26 and a bit years) anniversary as a singing group.  This has lead to us putting on a few more shows this year in our glorious home county.

Our latest homegrown gigs will be two nights of shanties and saucy bawdiness at Carnglaze Caverns near St Neot on FRIDAY 14TH JULY and SATURDAY 15TH JULY.  This former slate mine is a unique underground venue with amazing acoustics that will certainly be an evening (or two) to remember.

We've got ourselves a few new and re-visited songs for this next series of gigs and it has been great to get back into the swing of singing some songs that "had slipped down behind the back of the couch", so to speak.

There are still tickets available for the two nights, so just head HERE to book for either the Friday or Saturday nights.
