Originally from Leeds, our 'Professional Yorkshireman' John moved to Port Isaac in 1977 after enjoying a few years travelling around the UK and Europe.  John is a builder by trade but has also worked as a factory engineer, a chef and even picked grapes in Bordeaux.

On moving to Port Isaac, John loved the fact that the local pub would regularly be the scene of spontaneous singing sessions.  At first he would enjoy these evenings of song from the outskirts, but as he got to know the village residents he was drawn into the singing circle, especially when they realised that they needed another baritone voice.

After four decades of living in Cornwall, watching his children and grandchildren grow up in this close community we'd wondered whether he'd look to apply for official Cornish status....  But as a proud Northerner he has politely told us to "Boooooger Off"!!

John and his wife also run a B&B in Port Isaac called 'ORION HOUSE' where they offer a warm welcome throughout the year.  John may even tell you about his previous 15 minutes of fame when he was a contestant on the classic TV show 'BULLSEYE'.
