The Fisherman’s Friends Announce Their Own Festival to Celebrate Cornish Culture in 2026

The world-renowned band, The Fisherman’s Friends, are launching their OWN festival in May 2026– an exciting celebration of Cornish culture, music, art, food, and drink, offering an authentic taste of Cornwall.

Never ones to do things conventionally, the band are setting up their debut festival despite the challenging financial landscape of the UK festival scene. A crazy idea? Maybe, but 30 years ago when the band was formed, the idea of selling out The Albert Hall would have seemed far-fetched too. The Fisherman’s Friends will not only kick off the event but also headline this family-friendly weekend packed with camping, music, and activities.

“Having performed at festivals all over the world, including the iconic Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, we decided it’s about time to show everyone how we do things down in Cornwall. We love rocking up in our campers and enjoying the summer festivals, and we can't wait to do that down here at our own!”

The Fisherman’s Friends Festival is a collaboration with DMF Music, the organisers behind the popular Beautiful Days festival in Devon. The event will feature a Big Top main stage hosting folk, sea shanty, and contemporary music, alongside spoken word performances and acoustic sessions on a Bandstand. The festival will also highlight Cornish artisan makers and caterers, offering a true taste of local craftsmanship and culinary delights. Visitors can enjoy a beer tent and a dedicated Kids Tent with daytime activities and workshops, making it a perfect experience for all ages.

The festival will take place on Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, 2026, with gates opening on Friday at the famous Stithians Showground, located just eight miles from Truro.

Having played a key role in the development of the independent Beautiful Days festival since its inception in 2003, DMF Music brings a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to launch and manage The Fisherman’s Friends Festival.
